ABSTRACT: This single blinds (blind evaluator) clinical study was carried out to compare the efficacy and safety of Betamethasone dipropionate plus chinoform (Diproform) cream and Betamethasone 17-valerale plus chinoform (Betnovate-C) cream in 140 cases of clinically secondarily infected steroid-responsive dermatoses. Both cream were safe and effective, the former being better than the latter. Treatment with Diproform cream resulted in a significantly lower relapse as compared to therapy with Betnovate-C.

ABSTRACT: The present study was condcuted to evaluate the efficacy of non steroidal anti-inflammatory creams and to compare with topical steroid cream using Reddy and Singh's human bioassay technique. This involves suppression of histamine induced wheal as an index of anti-inflammatory activity of a topical agent. 5 percent aspirin, 5 percentt phenylbutazone. while hydrocortisone and beclomethasone resulted in significant reduction.

ABSTRACT: Treatment of leprosy by multi-drug regimen (MDR) is not the final answer to the problem of its management. It is a transitional phase only. Need for development of new drug and new drug regimen is an urgent necessity. Present communication is a report of therapeutic assessment of a combination of active principal of two indigenous drugs plus dapsone. Preliminary report indicating that the the new drug regimen is comparable to MDR, clinically and reactional episodes are negligible in comparison to MDR.

ABSTRACT: A clinico radiological study based on 50 patients of psoriasis, diagnosed on the basis of morphology of the lesions and also by histopathological changes in the affected skin, over the period of 1 year is reported. The incidence of psoriasis was found to be 0.92 percent of hospital attending patients. The joint involvement was present clinically in 18 (13 percent cases). Radiological 22 (44 percent) cases had peripheral arthritis & 16 (32 percent) cases had spinal changes. In all the cases the rheumatoid factor was found to be negative. The joint changes were related to total duration of the disease but not to severity of skin surface involved The joint changes were associated with nail involvement in 72 percent & were preceded by skin lesions in all cases. The patients with joints involvement had abnormal faecal, fat d xylose excretion, raised serum Ig A, Ig G levels and raised serum uric acid levels in varying percentage.
