ABSTRACT: A double blind clinical study was undertaken in one hundred cases suffering from mild to moderate acne vulgaris. Fifty subjects have used topical 5 percent benzoyl peroxide gel (group I) and remaining 50 persons used 2 percent erythromycin lotion, (group II). At the end of 8 weeks, 17 (34 percent) cases belonging to group I had shown excellent improvement of the response. Twenty cases (40 percent) of group I had shown excellent improvement in noninflamed lesions and 8 (16 percent) cases of group II showed similar response.
