ABSTRACT: A double blind clinical study was undertaken in one hundred cases suffering from mild to moderate acne vulgaris. Fifty subjects have used topical 5 percent benzoyl peroxide gel (group I) and remaining 50 persons used 2 percent erythromycin lotion, (group II). At the end of 8 weeks, 17 (34 percent) cases belonging to group I had shown excellent improvement of the response. Twenty cases (40 percent) of group I had shown excellent improvement in noninflamed lesions and 8 (16 percent) cases of group II showed similar response.

ABSTRACT: Two cases of creeping eruptions are reported here which showed dramatic improvement following oral albendazole therapy with no discernible side effect. To our knowledge these are the first two cases of creeping eruption where oral albendazole has been used. So far thiabendazole may prove an effective as well as less toxic alternative to thiabendazole in the therapy of creeping eruption.

ABSTRACT: In vitro susceptibility testing of 88 clinical isolates of dermatophytes comprising of Microsporum canis (50), M. audouinii (5) Trichophyton rubrum (6), T. mentagrophytes (5), T. violaceum (12), T, simii (5), T. verrucosum (1), T.soudanense (1), T erinacei and Epidermophyton floccosum (2) were carried out against imidazoles - Ketoconazole, miconazole and econazole by agar dilution method. The inhibitory activities of these agents were compared with that of griseofulvin. Econazole was found to be most active, inhibiting all the isolates at a concentration of 0.1 ug/ml. (minimal inhibitory concentration - MIC range 0.001 - 0.1 ug/ml). Ninety percent of the isolates tested were inhibited by 2.5 ug/ml of ketoconazole (MIC range 0.1-5 ug/ml) and miconazole (MIC range 0.1- 5 ug/ml) each where - as 5 ug/ml of griseofulvin (MIC range 0.1-5 ug/ml) was required for the same.)
